Story:
Berlin in 1925. A young Russian soldier (Ganin) is living in a rundown boarding house. Looking at some old photographs he is being reminded of times gone by and his first love.
These memories help him escape a drab existence in Berlin and make him dream about a better and happier future. Ganin's dream is called "Maschenka": She represents the ultimate happiness in a perfect world.
MASCHENKA is a film based on a autobiographic novel by Vladimir Nabokov: a film about love, women and memories.
The English script is written by John Mortimer.
