REFLECTION 2001 is a short film by the internationally praised, Oscar-nominated Swedish director Jan Troell, depicting everyday life at the World Trade Centre in New York in the spring of 2001.

That was before anyone could imagine the events, which would occur just a few months later. “Reflection” has a double meaning, expressed here by the tension between the mighty Twin Towers and ordinary people down in the square below, and between their innocent presence in the spring of 2001 and our current knowledge of what was about to happen.

Using images and music but no words Jan Troell constructs an urban landscape for reflection, a short requiem about the attack on September 11 that killed 6,000 people and hit us all.
